DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the application of the principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance system. Mechanical engineers work to improve the design, safety and energy efficiency of the machines that support industry and society. Mechanical Engineering Degree Programme is based on a strong core of fundamental studies in engineering, science, designing, computing and management that will provide graduates with lifelong skills in these disciplines.

Learning is not complete without hands on experience. Fully equipped, safe and modern technical labs and workshops are provided within the campus for imparting practical training to the learners. The central workshop consists of various shops for the practice of fitting, carpentry, smithy, forging, welding and foundry.

The workshops at E-max Institutes have Lathes, Drilling Machines, Testing Machines, Generators, Engines and Digital measuring instruments etc. Moreover, all these workshops are under the expert supervision of competent faculty assisted by experienced technicians who not only train students but also ensure their safety.

Mechanical Engineering graduates have promising career prospects in many industries including power generation, mining, mineral processing, metal and material production, automobile, shipping, power plants, railways, air conditioning and refrigeration, material handling and manufacturing.  Due to the wide scope of mechanical engineering, employment can be sought in consultancy, private industry or government agency dealing with defense, transport.

Laboratory Name: Fluid Machine/ Fluid Mechanics Lab
Equipments: Bernoulli's theorem apparatus, Centrifugal pump apparatus, Meta-centric apparatus, Venturi-meter & Orifice-meter apparatus, Pipe fitting apparatus, Impact of vanes apparatus, V-notch apparatus, Pelton wheel, Francis turbine, Kaplan turbine, Hydraulic Ram, Reciprocating pump test setup with AC motor, Gear pump test setup with AC motor/ with DC motor.

Laboratory Name: Strength of Materials Lab
Equipments: Rigidity of horizontal shaft apparatus, Crank and slotted lever mechanism, Reciprocating engine mechanism, Oscillating cylinder mechanism, Single slider crank mechanism, Withworth quick return motion mechanism, Coriolli's component, Epicyclic gear train apparatus, Universal Governor, Whirling of shaft apparatus, Gyroscope apparatus, Balancing apparatus  .

Equipments: Thermal conductivity of metal rod, Thermal conductivity of insulating powder, Thermal conductivity of liquids, Heat transfer through composite walls, Heat transfer from a Pin Fin, Heat transfer in forced convection, Parallel/Counter flow heat exchanger 

Laboratory Name: Internal Combustion Engine Lab
Equipments: Lubrication system model, Cooling system model, Solex carburetor, Battery ignition system SI engine, Morse test petrol engine, Single cylinder diesel engine with rope dynamo meter, Single cylinder two stroke petrol engine test rig, Multistage air compressor test rig 

Laboratory Name: Measurement & Control Lab
Equipments: Strain gauge based cantilever beam and measurement of strain on the beam, LVDT and measurement of linear displacement, Inductive pickup and measurement of linear displacement, Optical sensor speed measurement, Capacitive pickup and measurement of angular displacement, LVDT(strain gauge based) and measurement of linear displacement, Pressure pickup and measurement of pressure of fluid, Load cell and measurement of load with load cell

Laboratory Name: Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Lab
Equipments: Refrigeration trainer, Air-conditioning trainer, Blower apparatus- Centrifugal blower DC 1 HP, Rotary compressor model, Water cooling tower, Component part of AC/RAC/tool kit
